Baby Frog Free Crochet Pattern

When frogs are this cute it's not hard to believe they could turn into princes, right?


I crocheted this little guy as part of my latest Amigurumi collection that features 5 little animals! They are approximately 5" tall and can work perfectly as attachments for a super sweet nursery mobile!

I'll be listing the patterns for the Squirrel and the Tiger in the next few weeks...for now I'd like to share the crochet instruction for the BABY FROG with you all!

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner/ Intermediate

YARN: Medium Weight Cotton Yarn (Lace 4) in Green, White, Black and Pink

OTHER MATERIALS: Polyester Fiber Filling; 6mm Black Plastic Safety Eyes

HOOK SIZES: E/3,50 mm

STITCHES USED and ABBREVIATIONS: magic ring (mr), chain (ch), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), back loop only (BLO), decrease (dec), increase (inc), fasten off (F/O).

INSTRUCTIONS: work in rows (join with a sl st and ch1 at the end of each row) otherwise instructed.

HEAD (green yarn)

1) 8 sc in a mr (8)

2) inc around (16)

3) *1 sc, inc*, repeat ** around (24)

4) *2 sc, inc*, repeat ** around (32)

5) *3 sc, inc*, repeat ** around (40)

6) sc even (40)

7) *4 sc, inc*, repeat ** around (48)

8) sc even (48)

9) *5 sc, inc*, repeat ** around (56)

10-16) sc even (56)

17) *5 sc, dec*, repeat ** around (48)

18) *4 sc, dec*, repeat ** around (40); start stuffing the head

19) *3 sc, dec*, repeat ** around (32)

20) *2 sc, dec*, repeat ** around (24)

21) *2 sc, dec*, repeat ** around (18); F/O and cut the yarn.

Finish stuffing the doll’s head firmly.


Embroider the MOUTH with some scrap black yarn.


Embroider the CHEEK BLUSHING with some scrap pink yarn.



EYES (green and white yarn; make two)

1) start working with white yarn, 6 sc in a mr (6)

2) inc around (12)

3) switch to green yarn, *1 sc, 1 inc*, repeat ** around (18)

4) working in BLO, sc even (18)

5-6) working in both loops now, sc even (18); place the safety eye between rounds 2/3 of the eye

7) *1 sc, 1 dec*, repeat (12); stuff the eye

8) dec around; F/O and leave a long tail of yarn to sew the eye to the head.


BODY (white and green yarn)

1) start working with green yarn, 6 sc in a mr (6)

2) inc around (12)

3) *1 sc, inc*, repeat ** around (18)

4) *2 sc, 1 inc*, repeat ** twice, switch to white yarn, *2 sc, 1 inc*, repeat ** twice, switch back to green yarn, *2 sc, 1 inc*, repeat ** twice (24)

5) keep working with green yarn, *3 sc, 1 inc*, repeat ** twice, 1 sc, switch to white yarn, 2 sc, 1 inc, 3 sc, 1 sc with white and 1 sc with green yarn in the next st, *3 sc, 1 inc*, repeat ** twice (30)

6) keep working with green yarn, *4 sc, 1 inc*, repeat ** twice, 1 sc, switch to white yarn, 3 sc, 1 inc, 4 sc, switch back to green yarn, 1 inc, *4 sc, 1 inc*, repeat ** twice (36)

7) keep working with green yarn, 13 sc, switch to white yarn, 9 sc, switch back to green yarn, 14 sc (36)

8-12) repeat round #7 (36); start stuffing the body

13) keep working with green yarn, *4 sc, 1 dec*, repeat ** twice, 1 sc, switch to white yarn, 3 sc, 1 dec, 4 sc, switch back to green yarn, 1 dec, *4 sc, 1 dec*, repeat ** twice (30)

14) keep working with green yarn, *3 sc, 1 dec*, repeat ** twice, 1 sc, switch to white yarn, 2 sc, 1 dec, 3 sc, switch back to green yarn, 1 dec, *3 sc, 1 dec*, repeat ** twice (24)

15) keep working with green yarn, *2 sc, 1 dec*, repeat ** around (18); F/O and leave a long tail of yarn to attach the body to the head. Stuff the body firmly.


ARMS (green yarn; make two)

1) 8 sc in a mr (8)

2-7) sc even (8)

8) sc even (8)

9) *2 sc, 1 dec*, repeat ** twice (6)

10) sc even (6); F/O and leave a long tail of yarn to sew the arm to the side of the body

Stuff the arm very lightly.


LEGS (green yarn; make two)

1) 6 sc in a mr (6)

2) inc around (12)

3) *1 sc, 1 inc*, repeat ** around (18)

4-8) sc even (18)

9) *1 sc, 1 dec*, repeat ** around (12)

10) *1 sc, 1 dec*, repeat ** around (8)

11) 2 sc, 4 sc inc, 2 sc (12)

12) 1 sc, 5 sc inc, 6 sc (17)

13) sl st around (17); F/O and hide the yarn. Do not stuff the leg.

Flatten the part of the leg between rounds 1-10 and sew it to the side of the body.
