Pumpkin House Free Crochet Pattern

Despite I'm absolutely in love with Summer, with the beautiful hot and sunny days, the day trips to the lake, the yummy ice creams, I can't help but dreaming of Fall and Pumpkin Season. Am I the only one?


I'm sure many of you have already started working on Fall and Christmas projects to get ready for the Holiday Season. There is something special about winter crafts, don't you agree?


Here I am today with a special gift for all the pumpkin lovers out there...a cute Pumpkin House free crochet pattern!


Isn’t it adorable? I can already see it decorating your kids' rooms, fireplace mantels and porches.

Here's the FREE pattern!

YARN: Medium Worsted in Terra Cotta, Yellow, Green and Black

MATERIALS: 2.5 mm Crochet Hook; Polyester Fiber Filling

DIMENSION: H. 5” x W. 5” x D. 5”

ABBREVIATIONS: stitch (st), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), decrease (dec), increase (inc), back loop only (BLO), fasten off (F/O), magic ring (mr)

INSTRUCTION: join at the end of each round and ch1, unless otherwise instructed

PUMPKIN (terra cotta yarn)

1) 8 sc in a mr (8)

2) sc inc around (16)

3) *1 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (24)

4) *2 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (32)

5) *3 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (40)

6) *4 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (48)

finish stuffing the pumpkin tightly

54) sc dec around (8); F/O, close the hole and leave a very long tail of yarn to create the pumpkin bumps.

Insert the needle up through the center and pull it out on the other side, wrap it around the pumpkin back to the bottom, stick the needle back up through the center and pull it tight so that it squeezes the pumpkin. Continue wrapping it around so that you end up with 6 bumps.


STEM (green yarn)

1) 8 sc in a mr (8)

2) sc inc around (16)

3) working in BLO, sc even (16)

4-6) working in both loops now, sc even (16)

7) *2 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (12)

8-10) sc even (12)

11) 3 sc, 20 ch, 3 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 3 sc in the next 18 chains, 1 sc in the 4th stitch of round #10, 3 sc , 30 ch, 3 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 3 sc in each of the next 28 chains, 1 sc in the 8th sc of round #10, 4 sc (156); F/O and leave a long tail to attach the stem on top of the pumpkin.


WINDOWS (yellow, terra cotta and black yarn; make two)

1) starting off with yellow yarn, 8 sc in a mr (8)

2) sc inc around (16)

3) *1 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (24)

4) switch to terra cotta yarn, *2 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (32)

5) sl st around (32); F/O and leave a long tail of yarn to sew the window to the side of the pumpkin.

Embroider the WINDOW GRILL with black yarn.


DOOR (green, yellow and terra cotta yarn / work in rows, ch1 and turn at the end of each row)

1) starting off with green yarn, work 10 ch, 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 8 sc (9); ch1 and turn

2) sc even (9); ch1 and turn

3) 4 sc, 1 sc inc, 4 sc (10); ch1 and turn

4) sc even (10); ch1 and turn

5) 1 sc inc, 8 sc, 1 sc inc (12); ch1 and turn

6-8) sc even (12); ch1 and turn

9) 1 sc inc, 10 sc, 1 sc inc (14); ch1 and turn

10) sc even (14)

11) 3 sc, switch to yellow yarn, 8 sc, switch back to green yarn, 3 sc (14)

12) repeat row #11 (14)

13) keep working with green yarn, 1 sc, 1 sc dec, switch to yellow yarn, 8 sc, switch back to green yarn, 1 sc, 1 sc dec (12)

14) sc even (12)

15) keep working with green yarn, 2 sc, switch to yellow yarn, 3 sc, 1 sc dec, 3 sc, switch back to green yarn, 2 sc (11)

16) keep working with green yarn, 2 sc, switch to yellow yarn, 3 sc, 1 sc dec, 2 sc, switch back to green yarn, 2 sc (10)

17) working with green yarn only, 10 sc (10); do not cut the yarn…

…keep working around, 1 sc in each stitch around; 3 sc in each corner stitch at the base of the door.

Once you have completed the round, do not cut the yarn, sl st around instead. F/O and leave a long tail of yarn to sew the door to the side of the pumpkin.

Embroider the DOOR WINDOW GRILL with black yarn.

Embroider the HANDLE and the DOOR HINGES with terra cotta yarn.
