Those of you who have been following me for a while, probably know that I've started crocheting amigurumis since few years now - 6 already!!
...and believe it or not, this is my first attempt to crochet a little Santa Claus!
Maybe because there are already so many lovely little Santas out there, I've always pushed back the idea of designing one.
Well, after all this years I finally decided to give this project a try and what it came out is a cute gnome-style Santa Claus with a sack (full of present)!
I personally love how it turned out and how easy it is to work!

YARN: Light (3) in Black, White, Red, Linen, Brown and Yellow
MATERIALS: C2 - 2.75 mm Hook; Poly Filling
DIMENSION: Santa Claus H. 7” x W. 3.5” / Sack H. 3” x W. 2.5”
ABBREVIATIONS: magic ring (mr), stitch (st), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc),
half double crochet (hdc), back loop only (BLO), front loop only (FLO), fasten off (F/O), rounds (rnds)
SKILL LEVEL: Beginner
INSTRUCTIONS: work in rounds (join with a sl st and ch 1 at the end of each round) unless otherwise instructed.

BODY (black, white, red and linen yarn)
1) starting off with black yarn, 8 sc in a mr (8)

13) 4 hdc, 4 sl st, 4 hdc (12); F/O and leave a long tail of yarn to sew the beard onto the body. Position the beard so that the 4 sl sts section is placed underneath the nose. Sew the upper edge between rounds # 30-31.
Embroider the BELT BUCKLE with some yellow yarn.

10) *2 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** twice (6); F/O and leave a long tail of yarn. Stuff the arm lightly and sew it to the side of the body, between rnds # 25-28.
HAT (red and white yarn)

4-5) sc even (9)

POMPON (white yarn)
Wrap white yarn around your index and middle fingers. Wrap until you get the desired amount of yarn. Gently pull the yarn off of your fingers, wrap another piece around the center of the yarn ball.
Tie it tight to secure. Trim to form. Use the yarn ends to attach the pompon to the tip of the hat.
SANTA SACK (brown and red yarn)
1) starting off with brown yarn, 8 sc in a mr (8)
2) sc inc around (16)
3) *1 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (24)
4) *2 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (32)
5) working in BLO, *3 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (40)
6-21) working in both loops now, sc even (40)
22) hdc even (40); F/O, cut the yarn and wave in end. Stuff the sack lightly.
Cut a 6” long string of red yarn. Sew a running stitch line between rnds #18-19. Pull the two ends tight and make a simple bow. Trim the yarn ends.
