No green thumb needed for this beauty...this crocheted snake plant thrives anywhere and adds a splash of green to your space!


This snake plant is surprisingly easy to make! It only takes a bit of practice working around a metal wire. Once you get the hang of it, you'll be hooked—I promise. Creating these charming, low-maintenance plants is perfect way to enjoy greenery without the upkeep!

#172N Bayberry 1 ball (A)


MATERIALS

Crochet hook size B1/2.25 mm

Floral Wire 26 gauge

Embroidery Needle

Foam Brick

Vase

Decorative Pebbles

5 - 7 in. (13- 18 cm) long.

Short Leaves (make 3)

With A.

Row 1: Ch 49, 1 hdc into the 2nd ch from the hook, 9 hdc, 25 dc, 7 hdc, 5 sc, 4 sc into the last ch; keep working on the opposite side of the foundation chain, 5 sc, 7 hdc, 25 dc, 10 hdc (do not join with the 1st st) – 98 sts; turn

Row 2: Ch 1, 10 hdc, 25 dc, 7 hdc, 6 sc, 1 hdc and 1 dc in the next st, ch1, 1 dc and 1 hdc in the next st, 6 sc, 7 hdc, 25 dc, 10 hdc – 101 sts.

 

Let’s make the last row working around the floral wire.

 

Leave some length at the beginning (approximately 1 inch) for sticking the wire into the foam brick.

 

Row 3: Ch 1, insert the hook into the st, grab the yarn from underneath the wire and pull it through; grab the yarn again (from above the wire) and pull it through two loops; rep along working 1 sc into each st and 2 sc into the ch-1 space – 102 sts.

 

Fasten off, cut the yarn and weave in ends.

 

Cut the floral wire 1 inch from the end of the leaf.



Medium Leaves (make 3)

With A.

Row 1: Ch 55, 1 hdc into the 2nd ch from the hook, 9 hdc, 31 dc, 7 hdc, 5 sc, 4 sc into the last ch; keep working on the opposite side of the foundation chain, 5 sc, 7 hdc, 31 dc, 10 hdc (do not join with the 1st st) – 110 sts; turn

Row 2: Ch 1, 10 hdc, 31 dc, 7 hdc, 6 sc, 1 hdc and 1 dc in the next st, ch1, 1 dc and 1 hdc in the next st, 6 sc, 7 hdc, 31 dc, 10 hdc – 113 sts.

 

Let’s work the last row crocheting around the floral wire.

 

Leave some length at the beginning (approximately 1 inch) for sticking the wire into the foam brick.

 

Row 3: Ch 1, insert the hook into the st, grab the yarn from underneath the wire and pull it through; grab the yarn again (from above the wire) and pull it through two loops; rep along working 1 sc into each st and 2 sc into the ch-1 space – 114 sts.

 

Fasten off, cut the yarn and weave in ends.

 

Cut the floral wire 1 inch from the end of the leaf.



Long Leaves (make two)

With A.

Row 1: Ch 61, 1 hdc into the 2nd ch from the hook, 9 hdc, 37 dc, 7 hdc, 5 sc, 4 sc into the last ch; keep working on the opposite side of the foundation chain, 5 sc, 7 hdc, 37 dc, 10 hdc (do not join with the 1st st) – 122 sts; turn

Row 2: Ch 1, 10 hdc, 37 dc, 7 hdc, 6 sc, 1 hdc and 1 dc in the next st, ch1, 1 dc and 1 hdc in the next st, 6 sc, 7 hdc, 37 dc, 10 hdc – 125 sts.

 

Let’s make the last row working around the floral wire.

 

Leave some length at the beginning (approximately 1 inch) for sticking the wire into the foam brick.

 

Row 3: Ch 1, insert the hook into the st, grab the yarn from underneath the wire and pull it through; grab the yarn again (from above the wire) and pull it through two loops; rep along working 1 sc into each st and 2 sc into the ch-1 space – 126 sts.

 

Fasten off, cut the yarn and weave in ends.

 

Cut the floral wire 1 inch from the end of the leaf.

 

 

Shape the brick the size of your pot. Insert the brick in it. Arrange the leaves by sticking the floral wire ends into the foam brick. Place the short leaves on the outer part and the longest in the center part. Cover with decorative pebbles.
