California's Labor Code 1198 regulates the maximum limit of hours and conditions under which employees may lawfully work. It protects laborers from any form of exploitation that exposes them to an unsafe or unhealthy work environment and ascertains they are correctly remunerated for work done. Violations of Labor Code 1198 (https://consumerattorneys.com/article/labor-code-1198) entail fines, further showing the seriousness that California takes in enforcing standards in both fair labor practices and worker safety throughout its industries.
