I love adding handmade pieces to my home decor collection.

I think it's a great way to bring a personal touch to any space of the house.

Not to mention that each handmade project can become a great piece of conversation when you have guests over!


Today we'll be learning how to create a beautiful cushion cover!

I love the amazing texture of the Front and Back Double Crochet stitch and the color shades that make this cushion perfect for both Summer and Fall!

BEGINNER


SIZE

About 13 x 13 in. (33 x 33 cm)


YARN

· Lion Brand® MANDALA ® (Art. # 525)

# 240D Groot 1 ball (A)

OTHER MATERIALS

Crochet Hook Size H (5 mm)

Yarn Needle

12 x 12 in Cushion Insert

5 Wooden Buttons (5/8 in. diameter)


GAUGE

16 sts + 11 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm).


ABBREVIATIONS

beg = begin(ninig)

ch = chain

rep = repeat

rnd(s) = round(s)

sc = single crochet

dc = double crochet

FPdc = front post double crochet

BPdc = back post double crochet

sl st = slip stitch

st(s) = stitch(es)

Panel I

With A

Row 1: Ch 52, dc into the 3rd ch from the hook, dc in each ch along – 50 dc.

Row 2: Ch 2, dc into the 1st st, *FPdc into next st, BPdc into next st; rep from * 24 times, dc into the last st – 50 sts.

Rows 3 - 36: rep Row 2 – 50 sts.

Row 37: sc in each st along – 50 sc.

Keep working with A, sc even around the remaining 3 sides. Work 3 sc in each corner st.

Fasten off and weave in ends.


Panel I

With A

Row 1: Ch 52, dc into the 3rd ch from the hook, dc in each ch along – 50 dc.

Row 2: Ch 2, dc into the 1st st, *FPdc into next st, BPdc into next st; rep from * 24 times, dc into the last st – 50 sts.

Rows 3 - 36: rep Row 2 – 50 sts.

Row 37: sc in each st along – 50 sc.

Finishing

Place Panel II on top of Panel I, so that sides match.

With A, sc through both layers all around 3 of the 4 sides (leave 1 side unworked).

Once you have joined the three sides, work 1 sc in each st of the two unjointed sides (to create a border).

Sew the Buttons to the inside of one of the Panels, close to the edge.

Weave in ends.

Insert the cushion inside the cover.

Use the space in between the stitches as buttonholes.
